GET INVOLVED

As a new initiative, we are welcome the efforts of anyone who is interested in assisting the cause. A few ways you can help are listed below.

  • Whilst we aren't acquiring any fixed assets to run the programme, our biggest purchase will be mats to train on. We are aiming to host 16 children a session, which would require roughly 16 rectangular, or sets of square puzzle, mats. If you are interested in donating mats (old or new), or would like to offer us a discounted code (or some who can lead us to a discounted code) on purchasing, we would love to hear from you.

  • We would like to provide each student with the essentials of Brazilian jiu-jitsu: mouth-guards; rash-guards; spats and shorts; slops; sports bras, for those who need them; and the famous draw-string bag to keep it all in. In a dream world, we would like to offer every child a gi and a belt. If you have any old and well-kept training gear that you would like to donate, or would like to sponsor any of our new gear, please get in touch.

  • Each child will have access to their own homework and tutoring materials, including exercise books, pens, and highlighters. If you would like to donate towards the education sector of OMISH, please pop us an email.

  • At OMISH, we are passionate about ensuring each child, at every session, receives a home-cooked and nutritious meal. If you would like to donate to our feeding scheme, we would love to hear from you.

  • As an NPO wearing many hats, we are looking for many hands. As of March 2026, we are looking for

    • a chef, and a chef's assistant

    • a head tutor

If you know anyone who might be interested in filling these roles, and is passionate about helping others, please reach out.

  • If you would like to volunteer to help things run smoothly at OMISH, in any of our factors (training, feeding, or education), we would love your help. From coaching to food preparation and tutoring, the more help, the better. Our volunteers will receive a small stipend to help cover fuel or travel costs.

  • If you are a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and would like to give a seminar, we would love to hear from you! We believe that an important part of improving in jiu-jitsu is seeing what's possible. To help facilitate that experience, we will host a once-a-month seminar and open mat for them to be able to access the wider community. If you are interested, please email info@omish.org.za.

we'd love to hear from you, chat to you and welcome you to our project.
